(WARNING: This post is a bit graphic, as it pertains to anal sex, so please be advised.)
If you want a steak sandwich, you should go to Philadelphia.
If you are craving barbeque, you, of course, head to Kansas City.
As we are well aware, certain cities become (in)famous for particular things.
Similarly, San Francisco, these days, has become the capital city for sodomy.
San Francisco, however, was not the originator of the pervasive homosexual culture. Instead, they follow in the footsteps of an ancient city. One that became so far synonymous with homosexual sex that the perversion is named, to this day, after the city. That city, of course, is Sodom. ((http://www.scripturecatholic.com/homosexuality.html))
Yes, of Sodom and Gomorrah fame in the Old Testament of the Bible.
“Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomor’rah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; and he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground” (Genesis 19:24-25).
God was so disgusted with the sexual perversions of the city that He literally wiped it off the face of the earth.
This was a warning that the ancients heeded, citing it as it as an example in other books of the Bible, written (long) after the city’s destruction (Lamentations 4:6, Amos 4:11, Matthew 11:24, 2 Peter 2:6, Jude 1:7, Revelation 11:8, etc.).
SODOMY IS A GRAVE SIN
The primary purpose for sex is the procreation of children. This is plain to see, by the very nature of the act itself.
Sperm from a man and the ovum from a woman are meant to be joined to form a new human being, made in the image and likeness of God.
Anal sex in marriage rebels against nature because the act attempts to use of sexual organs in acts that are, in themselves, contrary to their purpose. Homosexual sex, by definition, remains sterile—everywhere and always. Thus, the primary purpose of the act is not just frustrated—it’s completely unobtainable and ignored.
Recognizing this, the Bible lists sodomy as a sinful action several times (Lev 18:22, 20:13; Rom 1:26; 1 Cor 6:9-10). If you would like to read more on why homosexual sex will always be immoral, check out my prior post here. ((PRIOR POST)).
MORAL CAUTIONING APPLIES TO MARRIED COUPLES AS WELL
Few people, I would estimate, are aware that sodomic acts are gravely immoral. Even fewer are aware anal sex in marriage remains seriously immoral as well.
Saint Alphonsus Liguori, the great Doctor of the Catholic Church, and the only one in moral theology, taught as much.
He taught that a married man and his wife are guilty of adultery, when their intercourse takes the form of sodomy (S. Liguori L. III, n. 446).
WHY? HOW COULD THAT BE?
Two simple reasons arise to explain why sodomic acts equate to adultery, even when performed between a married man and his wife.
First, God gave mankind a limited amount of sexual organs, and the anus is not one of them. The male’s reproductive organs and female’s fit together in obvious complementarity. This goes a long way toward proving what their purpose is for.
This is completely lost when two (or more) males have sex with each other, or two (or more) females have sex together.
To be frank, sodomy involves anal sex. The anus is not a sexual organ. Its purpose is to expel things from the body—it is not designed for intake. ((PRIOR POST))
Thus, for the body to be used in a manner contrary to its natural end, it is no wonder sodomy (anal sex) results in so many diseases for those who partake. ((PRIOR POST))
Second, the conjugal act must have copulation occur vaginally to be licit.
Since the primary purpose of sex is procreation, this can only be achieved when the sperm has a chance to go find an egg. For ejaculation to occur in another location—orally, anally, or anywhere else—constitutes grave sin.
Moreover, popular, modern writers in Catholic circles often contradict St. Alphonsus Liguori in this area. The writers will say that anal sex in marriage and pretty much anything else goes, so long as the conjugal act ends with copulation occurring vaginally. However, this is plain wrong.
Again, not all body parts are meant to serve as sexual organs and only those that are sexual organs should be used in the conjugal act.
Putting these two reasons together, you can see why oral sex, St. Alponsus Liguori teaches, remains a grave sin as well. To put it bluntly, the mouth and the throat were not designed for copulation either. Here again, many diseases and cancers can result.
IN CLOSING
I realize this is a tough topic to write about, and it may be uncomfortable to discuss. But I don’t see too many people willing to discuss the truth in this area, so I wanted to bring it to everyone’s attention.
Again, this is the teaching of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, the Doctor of the Church in Moral Theology.
Let us heed the cautionary tale of Sodom. America needs to stop celebrating the gay lifestyle, lest destruction be rendered in divine justice.
YOUR TURN
I have to imagine comments will be made on this one.
Were you aware of Saint Alphonsus’ teaching?
