Did you know that the moment your life began depends on which decade you were born in?
If you were born before 1965, then your life began at the moment your father’s sperm fused with your mother’s ovum. This event is called fertilization.
However, if you were born in 1965 or later, then your life began the moment you implanted into your mother’s womb, days after fertilization.
At least, according to the so-called “experts.”
ACOG HAD THE AUDACITY CHANGED THE DEFINITION OF WHEN LIFE BEGINS!
In 1965, the agenda-driven American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) changed the definition of when life begins. They did this in a deliberate effort to rationalize birth control pills.
Prior to 1965, every medical textbook knew life began at fertilization. “Fertilization” and “conception,” meant the same thing.
But in 1957 the birth control pill was first approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat severe menstrual disorders. The FDA required the warning label that the Pill prevents implantation.
In 1960 the FDA approved the Pill be sold as a contraceptive. It became the first drug approved for physically healthy women to use long-term and for social reasons.
Serious concerns were raised over the health risks and side effects of this new drug. In order to curb those concerns, as well as its deliberate abortion-inducing mechanisms, ACOG stepped in.
Seeing a new cash cow, in 1965 ACOG changed the definition of when life begins and when pregnancy begins.
They said that both life and pregnancy begin at implantation inside the uterus. They also moved the medical definition of “conception” from fertilization to implantation.
WHY DID ACOG CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF CONCEPTION?
The reason ACOG changed the definitions was simple. They wanted to excuse usage of the birth control pill. Specifically, they wanted to hide that it, indeed, does cause early abortions.

Here “fertilized egg” is the lame medical term for human being at earliest stage of natural development.
You see, as I have explained in a prior post, the science is rather easy to understand. When an ovary releases an egg, if a sperm is waiting there, then fertilization will occur. At this point, a new human life is formed, and that person is given a soul by God.
One of the mechanisms of the Pill includes its deliberate disruption of the lining of the uterus. This causes the baby to not be able to implant into the uterine lining, causing an abortion. The child dies.
Knowing this, ACOG played around with semantics in order to justify chemical homicide to innumerable children.
They moved the definition of when life begins and when pregnancy begins to implantation.
Therefore, when the Pill prevents implantation, they can claim the woman was never pregnant. If she was never pregnant, then no abortion occurred. Seriously, this is the stunt they pulled. This remains the terminology used to this day in the medical and “scientific” fields.
DON’T JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT
Facts never got in the way of Planned Parenthood telling a good story. Same holds true in their campaign to legalize and popularize birth control pills.
In 1952, Dr. Abraham Stone from Planned Parenthood recognized that any mechanical, chemical or “…biologic [sic] method that would prevent ovulation or fertilization merely prevent life from beginning… Measures designed to prevent implantation fall into a different category. Here there is a question of destroying a life already begun” (#1, emphasis added).
Bent Boving from Sweden, stated the following at a 1959 Planned Parenthood/Population Council symposium: “Whether eventual control of implantation can be reserved the social advantage of being considered to prevent conception rather than to destroy an established pregnancy could depend upon something so simple as a prudent habit of speech” (#2, emphasis added).
Boving admitted the following about the deadliness of the birth control pill: “…the greatest pregnancy wastage, in fact, by far the highest death rate of the entire human life span, is during the week before and including the beginning of implantation, and the next greatest is in the week immediately following” (#3, emphasis added).
At the 1964 Population Council symposium, Dr. Tietze, a member of Planned Parenthood and of the Population Council suggested a strategic course of action to dupe the public: “If a medical consensus develops and is maintained that pregnancy, and therefore life, begins at implantation, eventually our brethren from the other faculties will listen” (#4).
THE IMPLICATIONS ARE ENORMOUS
This is how birth control proponents, and even those in the medical community, can claim on a daily basis that the Pill does not end a pregnancy. They claim also it does not cause an abortion.
This is why they can claim to respect life from the moment of “conception”… Because they define conception as implantation, instead of fertilization.
In other words, this is how they rationalize the death of millions of babies.
Whereas, the true definition of when both life and pregnancy begin is at fertilization. We know that is when life begins for several reasons, including:
– At fertilization the new life is human because it has human parents.
– At fertilization the new human life has its own unique DNA and is capable of growing into an adult, if given time.
– At fertilization the new life is surely alive. We know this, because it is growing.
The essence of the human being does not change at implantation. He or she has already been growing for several days.
This is why we, pro-lifers need to be careful defining life as beginning at conception. We would do well to be sure our audience knows we mean fertilization, NOT implantation. This is why, perhaps, saying life begins at fertilization should be our (new) norm—just to be clear.
TWO HUGE POINTS IN CONCLUSION
Dr. Richard Sosnowski, in consideration of what ACOG pulled off their redefinition trickery, was not fooled. He made this observation:
“… that, with no scientific evidence to validate the change, the definition of conception as the successful spermatic penetration of an ovum was redefined as the implantation of a fertilized ovum. It appears to me that the only reason for this was the dilemma produced by the possibility that [it] might function as an abortifacient.” (#5)
To give you an idea of the enormity of how detrimental this game of wordsmithing has become…
The Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, estimates that 1/3 to 1/2 of all “fertilized eggs” (a.k.a. human beings) do not implant in the uterus.
Lord, have mercy.
