Thankfully more and more people are waking up to the interdependability of contraception and abortion.
Yet for many, more convincing is needed.
There remains a disconnect, even for pro-lifers. A majority of them support contraception as a supposed preventative measure against abortion.
They do not realize the cure they think they have found actually feeds the disease they wish to treat.
In other words, the contraceptive lifestyle that the vast majority of our culture practices necessitates the procurement of abortions.
As wonderful as the upcoming March For Life is, I wonder if any speakers will even mention the pandemic of birth control use. I can only hope the speakers at this year’s Walk For Life mention abortifacients and the death toll they have caused.
As great as it is to oppose abortion, we all must as strongly oppose contraception use.
IS BEING ANTI-ABORTION ENOUGH?
Many pro-lifers oppose abortion, yet support contraception.
For the contraceptive mentality to be granted credence, abortion must remain accessible.
In other words, the contraceptive lifestyle that the vast majority of our culture practices necessitates the procurement of abortions.
Even the Supreme Court recognized this reasoning. They have enshrined into law the causal connection between contraception and abortion.
Just look at the ruling of the infamous Casey v. Planned Parenthood case of 1992. The Court ruled the following:
“…for two decades of economic and social developments, [people] have organized intimate relationships and made choices that define their views of themselves and their places in society, in reliance on the availability of abortion in the event that contraception should fail.”
I am not the first person to point this out, I know. But maybe this is the first time you realized this for yourself.
The Supreme Court upheld the prior case, Roe v. Wade by the reasoning that a contraceptive lifestyle necessitates access to abortion.
The Court recognized that the contraceptive lifestyle “requires” the right to have one’s own unborn child dismembered. Why? Because the contraception may fail and people will “need” an alternative method to prevent birth.
PRO-LIFERS CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS—CONTRACEPTION MUST BE OPPOSED
It is wonderful that pro-lifers oppose the maiming of unborn children. That should be a given for every member of our society, but sadly it isn’t.
But at the same time, if those same pro-lifers accept, tolerate, or (especially) promote a contraceptive culture, they are crippling their cause.
So long as the pro-life community fails to grasp this, expect abortion to remain legal.
When pro-lifers join with the so-called pro-choice people in promoting birth control, their credibility takes a severe hit. Think about what they are saying.
“You are welcome to render the conjugal act sterile.” “You may use your spouse merely for sexual pleasure.” “You may take physical steps necessary, including ingesting known carcinogens, to ensure you do not become a parent.” “You are free to ignore the primary purpose of the sexual act and of marriage.”
Those same thoughts are in agreement with abortion supporters’ view of sexual activity as well.
Many pro-lifers think they get off the hook, however. They think birth control remains okay to use, so long as no babies accidentally come about. If a baby does come, well then everything changes for them.
At that point, the very child they supported trying to prevent coming into existence defied their efforts.
All pro-lifers agree at that point everyone would have a moral duty to preserve that baby’s life. Abortion would not even be an option.
But do you see how easy it is for that caveat to the contraceptive mentality to be missed by so many?
ABORTION IS THE BACKUP TO FAILED CONTRACEPTION
Actually, a majority of women who procure an abortion say they did so precisely because their birth control failed.
Since the culture has fed them this lie that sex and babies do not go together, is it any wonder they use abortion as their true Plan B?
As evidence of this mentality, the Casey ruling also reads, “In some critical respects abortion is of the same character as the decision to use contraception.”
Contraception and abortion are two patches cut from the same cloth. Or two identical pieces of rotten fruit, as Saint Pope John Paul the Great wrote in his papal encyclical, Evangelium Vitae.
“…contraception and abortion are often closely connected, as fruits of the same tree.”
Is it not incredibly sad that so many pro-life people accept and even promote the contraceptive mentality that children are to be avoided?
IN CLOSING
So long the contraceptive lifestyle is affirmed, abortion will always remain.
You can’t promote a contraceptive mentality and expect abortions someday to cease.
Pro-life community, you are going to have to choose.

Are you in agreement with me?
Or do you think there’s room for birth control support among the pro-life community?
