The US Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage last week legalized pseudo marriage for all 50 states. Unless you have lived under a rock recently, you already know this.
But what you may not realize is that this makes the following statement undeniable at this point: the USA is guilty of all four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.
Traditionally in the Church four sins have been recognized as so egregious they demand retribution from God.
What are those four sins? How is America guilty of all four? Let us see.
1. WILFUL MURDER
Genesis 4:10 quotes God talking to Cain. This is just after Cain kills his own brother, Abel. “God then said: What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground!”
Voluntarily taking an innocent person’s life remains a mortal sin. We all know this violates the Fifth Commandment (Exodus 20:13).
Unfortunately, the US makes murder a non-criminal act, so long as the person is unborn. Abortion “rights” are protected by law in this nation. As well, chemical abortion, by means of abortifacient contraception remains a legal “right.”
Moreover, the US government largely withholds foreign aid to other countries, until they prove willing to allow such evils within their borders.
2. THE SIN OF SODOMY
“Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven, and He overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground,” reads Genesis 19:24-25.
For what reason were the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed? For the sin of homosexuality.
The US government has ignored this warning in Scripture. Instead, it has celebrated the homosexual lifestyle. And now, it has enshrining it into law as a supposed valid marriage.
What is the purpose of law, anyway?
St. Thomas Aquinas explains law exists to make morally good. “Consequently it is evident that the proper effect of law is to lead its subjects to their proper virtue: and since virtue is ‘that which makes its subject good,’ it follows that the proper effect of law is to make those to whom it is given, good” (Summa Theologica, I-II, q. 92, emphasis added).
Now what about a law that contradicts God’s law? Can such a defiant law make men morally good, if obeyed?
St. Thomas answers, “If, however, the intention of the lawgiver is fixed on that which is not simply good, but useful or pleasurable to himself, or in opposition to Divine justice; then the law does not make men good simply.”
This new promulgation from the US Supreme Court to legalize so-called gay ‘marriage’ contradicts God’s Divine Law. Thus, it cannot possibly make people morally good. Therefore, it defies the very purpose of being a law in the first place.
The question remains when, not if. When will God seek justice from the USA for those beset by the four sins crying out to Him for vengeance?
3. OPPRESSION OF THE POOR
“You shall not wrong any widow or orphan,” exhorts God in Exodus 22:21.
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world,” reads James 1:27.
Why were widows and orphans a protected class of society in ancient times? Because they had no husband or father to provide for them. When most people in a society lived off the land, not having a father around meant going hungry.
We can see in principal the need to care for everyone vulnerable in society.
Yet, our culture makes divorce seem as no big deal. Breaking up a home, a family is treated like something minor.
What does divorce do? It most often separates children from their father. Study after study proves children growing up without a dad live much harder lifestyles.
As well, the principal of needing to care for the most vulnerable in society can be extended not only to the unborn, but to the elderly as well. The push for euthanasia is already underway. Doctor assisted suicide remains prevalent, just the same.
4. DEFRAUDING WORKERS THEIR WAGES
“Behold, the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts,” reads James 5:4.
The taxation in this country is out of control. More and more of everyone’s hard-earned money never makes it to their homes. Uncle Sam claims it for himself.
Meanwhile, this country keeps its department stores stocked with foreign goods imported here from countries like China that oppress much of its labor force in sweat factories.
IN CLOSING
The question remains when, not if. When will God seek justice from the USA for those beset by the four sins crying out to Him for vengeance?
And when God does say He has had enough, let us pray we do not end up as Sodom and Gomorrah did.
