Yeah, call me crazy, I know. However, I am not entirely convinced Emily Letts aired her abortion in the video that is garnering a lot of national attention.
Warning, even though Miss Letts’ video (below) does not show graphic images, it is still not for the faint of heart. Please consider yourself warned.
Earlier this week I addressed this story making clear there is a certain reaction to Miss Letts that is not allowed.
This is not to say that I know for sure.
This is also not to say that Emily Letts did not procure an abortion. We have to take her at her word that (a) she got pregnant, and (b) that she did have an abortion. I am not suggesting those parts are untrue.
But I am not entirely convinced her video contains the actual abortion “procedure” that she claims it does.
It is possible she is misleading everyone—especially her target audience of mothers who would otherwise feel guilty over having an abortion, because the abortion itself was not included in the video.
Too Little Is Shown
For starters, obviously, while she is lying on the table, she is filmed from her waist up, and largely the video zooms in on her smiling face. Thus, we cannot see what is going on below the sheet, from her waste down.
I wish she had aired for us the entire “procedure.” I know it would be graphic and disgusting, but that is the point!
Some 3,500 babies are killed by abortion each day in this country. Abortion is the most common surgical procedure in this country. If we actually aired this mere “procedure” by which these babies are dismembered, the country would be appalled.
For a baby as small as Miss Letts’, they would have used an abortion procedure called dilation and curettage (D&C).
No Suction Machine Heard
Did you hear the suction machine in the background of the video during “the procedure?” Yeah, me neither. We heard instead Miss Letts humming to herself.
Yet, the suction machine is almost 30 times more powerful than a vacuum cleaner. It sucks the broken baby’s body parts into a container to be discarded. Said machine is over 25 times stronger than a household vacuum. I think we would have heard it, had this part been aired.
Such a sound is missing from Miss Lett’s video.
Turns out, many post-abortive women have spoken out about their regret over having an abortion, saying they are haunted by the noise of the suction machine (ex. Judy Mamou).
Clearly, Miss Letts’ video is edited, and perhaps she blocked out the noise of the baby-sucking machine in their editing process. I do not claim to know with certainty. But I am suspicious.
Notice there clearly are skips forward in time at about the following minute marks: 1:25, 1:34, 1:36, and then again at 1:40. At 1:57 it skips ahead to the announcement from the abortionist that he is done.
We first see her on the table at 0:54. The “procedure” starts at 1:27. The “procedure” ends at 1:58.
The abortion itself lasts up to 31 seconds on film… That’s not enough time for the abortionist to find the baby blindly by hand, suck up the baby into the canula, and then compete the scraping out of the uterus.
Emily Letts’ “positive” abortion video shows no dead baby, no blood, and fails to speak about any possible physical, mental, or emotional complications from the abortion. (SAME LINK)
WHAT I THINK MAY HAVE BEEN AIRED INSTEAD
I think it is possible that, when the “doctor” exclaims joyously that they are all done, what he meant was he was done inserting the IUD.
She did say in her Cosmo piece, in which she gives her excuses for having her child killed that she did have them put in an IUD after the abortion. She admits she was not using contraception when she got pregnant, so she fixed that.
An IUD can be inserted in as little as 15 minutes after an abortion, I have read.
At a minimum, it does not appear she aired the suction portion of the D&C procedure. This is where the “doctor” scrapes out the inner lining of the uterus to ensure he did not leave behind any baby parts that could lead to infection inside the mother.
IF I AM CORRECT, MISS LETTS IS GUILTY OF MISLEADING WOMEN ON ABORTION
If I am correct that she did not air the abortion in her “positive abortion story” video, Miss Letts has performed a bait and switch. If I am right, then she told you she aired her abortion, when in fact she aired the IUD insertion instead.
As everyone knows, it would not good business and she wouldn’t be such a good role model for abortion advocates if she aired the loud suction in the background of her video. So it makes sense that for marketing purposes, she left that part out.
EVEN IF I AM WRONG, MISS LETTS STILL IS NOT GIVING MOTHERS THE FULL STORY
This 25-year-old from New Jersey who had herself filmed smiling while her baby was killed fails to give the complete picture to women contemplating abortion.
For starters, her video does not provide the physical complications, the mental problems, or the emotional baggage that can result in an abortion. Her Cosmo article does not do much better in addressing these legitimate concerns.
Former abortionist, Dr. Anthony Levatino, who says he performed over 1100 first-trimester abortions himself, before becoming convinced of abortion’s immorality, offers this description of the suction machine in a D&C abortion:
“Dilation or dilatation is the opening of the cervix and then curettage is the term we use for scraping inside of the uterus.”
He goes on to add, “This is a very powerful suction machine and when its turned on the catheter in place in the uterus again making sure that you don’t go so far that you perforate the uterus, and then the curette is rotated inside the uterus while that suction is being applied.”
Dr. Levatino: “Now babies of this size, they’re fully formed, two arms, two legs, beating heart, functioning brain. It’s all there, but the structures are very soft. The bones have not calcified. All the tissues are very soft.
Say a prayer for mercy, when you read his next quote in explanation of a D&C:
“So the suction machine just literally, just rips this baby to pieces, because… and it comes by basically ground up or homogenized right into the tubing and then gets pulled through the tubing into the collection bottles on the machine.”
This is the fate of Miss Letts’ baby. This is what she chose to broadcast to the world. This is what she calls a “positive” abortion story.
If abortion can be “positive,” then why are we all repulsed by Dr. Levatino’s description?
Okay, I am expecting feedback on this one for sure. I am open to being corrected—so long as you do it civilly.
Am I totally off base in wondering aloud whether the abortion itself was aired in her video?
Or might I be onto something?
And can anyone justify using Miss Letts’ terms like “positive,” “cool,” or “special memory” in describing an abortion, when juxtaposed with the former abortionist’s description of a D&C abortion?
