Well, that sure didn’t last long. Dr. Wen got fired.
You have heard the news by now, I am sure. Planned Parenthood axed their fairly-new President Leana Wen, Tuesday, July 16, 2019, less than a year on the job. They did so in a secret meeting, where Dr. Wen was not present.
I just learned that the @PPFA Board ended my employment at a secret meeting. We were engaged in good faith negotiations about my departure based on philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood. My statement to come shortly.

Dr. Wen tweeted the news, displaying how shocked she was to get the boot, stating, “I just learned that the @PPFA Board ended my employment at a secret meeting. We were engaged in good faith negotiations about my departure based on philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood. My statement to come shortly.”
Dr. Wen cited “philosophical differences” in her statement as the reason the Board gave her for the split. She says Planned Parenthood wishes to “double down on abortion rights advocacy,” whereas she sought all along to expand the “health care” Planned Parenthood provides. Dr. Wen brags in her Statement about the expansion of health care services she helped engineer in her tenure as president. Ultimately, Dr. Wen was let go, as well, because she was not focused enough on abortion.
As Planned Parenthood has watched abortion access get chipped away or blasted away in various states across the country, they have apparently shifted their focus to political advocacy. They no longer see Dr. Wen as the one to guide them further into the abyss of advocating for and carrying out the murder of innocent babies in the womb. What’s ironic is that their prior president, Cecile Richards, was notorious for that aspect of the position, but she is no longer there. Alexis McGill Johnson, a long-time board member, was elected their interim president while a search for a new successor begins.
DR. WEN WAS NOT FITTING IN
My prediction is that McGill Johnson ends up becoming the full-time president of this wicked organization. Or, at the very least, I bet they promote from within. I could be totally wrong, and I often am, but I think Planned Parenthood learned a lesson about the dangers of hiring an outsider.
After all, Dr. Wen was not always a good soldier when it came to the patented double-speak the organization is known for. For instance, while as the acting President of Planned Parenthood, Dr. Wen sent out a tweet confirming Planned Parenthood’s “core mission” remains abortion.
First, our core mission is providing, protecting and expanding access to abortion and reproductive health care. We will never back down from that fight – it’s a fundamental human right and women’s lives are at stake.

Dr. Wen clearly was being too honest.
Dr. Wen did not toe the party line about advocating merely for “reproductive rights” and had a slip-up where she spoke the truth. Planned Parenthood wants to perform as many abortions as it can. After all, abortion is the cash cow driving the supposed “non-profit” organization. And yet, they still want to perform this wordsmithing dance where they don’t say the “a-word.” Perhaps they figure if they don’t say it out loud, then their consciences won’t scream as loudly?
Another example of Dr. Wen not always spouting the double-speak was highlighted by a LifeSiteNews article earlier this week. Reportedly, the former ER doctor from Baltimore would not use enough “trans-inclusive” language to satiate the executives of Planned Parenthood. It’s humorous to watch the Left attack each other over adherence or lack thereof to their deceptive language.
And my last example of Dr. Wen not fitting in with the mantra spewed by Planned Parenthood and the Left is her Washington Post article where she mourns the baby she lost to miscarriage. This article was published a mere 10 days before she was fired. I do not think this was coincidental.
In the article she wrote, Dr. Wen describes the expanding of her and her husband’s family as her “deepest desire.” How can the president of the nation’s largest abortion provider admit she (and thereby other women) deeply desire motherhood and family life? The backbone of this evil organization remains set on eradicating motherhood from the face of the earth, in the name of equality with men. It seeks to eliminate family life as an institution of society. I imagine the Planned Parenthood executives were pulling their hair out.
What’s more, Dr. Wen claims her organization “support[s] all people in their decisions when and whether to become parents.” Evidently, Dr. Wen just could not get it through her head that altruism dies at the door of Planned Parenthood. They do not take the name of their organization seriously. C’mon!
The then-President of Planned Parenthood goes on to describe her feelings upon learning she experienced “pregnancy loss.” She claims she “felt numb,” and she felt “guilt,” and wonders if she could have prevented her miscarriage from happening. Later on in the piece, Dr. Wen describes her miscarriage as “a trauma.” Towards the end of the article, she claims she wrote the piece “in order to break the silence and the shame that often comes with pregnancy loss.”
That’s contradictory language to use for a woman who runs an organization that has spent decades telling pregnant women that what they had mere “blobs of tissue” in their abdomens. Such language flies in the face of an organization which calls abortion a mere “voluntary miscarriage,” and tells potential clients that abortion is really “no big deal.”
Dr. Wen looked like a great politically-correct hire. She is a minority female who serves in a field dominated by men. And yet, from the get-go of her hiring, I thought it was an odd fit. And finally Planned Parenthood has admitted its mistake and has to move on to someone new.
Dr. Leana Wen was just too plain honest. She had to go.
