If things continue as they are—and there’s no reason to think they will stop—the Brave New World will be fait accompli very soon. Now you can forget going to a sperm bank to purchase half your future child’s DNA.
There remains at least one sperm donor willing to meet you, in person, at your local gas station.
That’s at least a supposed perk to living in Great Britian. As a 41-year-old man named Simon Watson is willing to meet you there so you may buy his sperm.
He claims he has over 800 biological children, thanks to his cashing in on the desperation of infertile folks across Europe and Asia. This according to an article on BioEdge.org. He says he hopes to have 1,000 biological children.

Of course, Watson is not doing this as a charity. Oh, no. He charges 50 pounds per “donation.”
All a woman has to do is use a turkey baster or some other device to inseminate herself in the privacy of her own home. You know, with his sperm. And bam! If she is fertile at that time, then she will likely conceive his baby.
Such activity is legal in the United Kingdom.
But this does not make it moral.
Sure, the paper work and the cost of going through a sperm bank can be time consuming and financially detrimental. No need for going to a sperm bank anymore, apparently.
Also, obviously, infertility is a serious cross to bear. No one is denying this. Yet, there remain moral means to try to overcome infertility. Sperm donation and artificial insemination are not some of those moral means.
Neither is the grave sin of masturbation presumably utilized time and again for each of these “donations.” And neither is purposely treating the generation of children like cattle. Human beings are not to be bred and manufactured.
Instead, each child remains a gift from God. Each child deserves the right to know whom he came from and who his parents are.
Each child ought to be raised by his own biological mother and father. He should not be treated as a commodity in an attempt to legitimize a sodomizing couple’s pact.
Each child deserves to be the result of a loving, self-giving, conjugal act.
A child should not be a product of some real-life experiment using a stranger’s sperm and a turkey baster. Sorry to be crude, but these are the facts. Western culture has completely gone insane!
With the invention and commercialization of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other such technologies, we have circumvented God, the Creator. Our society has assumed the responsibility of deciding who gets brought into existence, and who needs to die.
Ascending into God’s domain like that can’t end well. Not for the individuals who, effectively, have ignored God in this manner. And not for a society that permits this hubris attempt to play god.
I WOULD THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE
I would hope this story makes us all squeamish. I think deep down we can all recognize the ridiculousness of this man’s actions. No one should be meeting up with strangers at gas stations to buy sperm in the hopes of getting pregnant.
But why can we agree on that?
I think it is because we know it defies the natural order of how we humans are supposed to bring new life into this world. The procreative process is written into our bodies. The complementarity of the sexes tells us how the procreative process ought to work. There should be no third-party involvement.
We rationalize to the way things ought to be by using our God-given use of reason.
Yet, do we have the same squeamishness toward those going to a sperm bank for artificial insemination?
If not, why not? Does the location of the transaction make that much of a difference?
Or how about the fact that these women are coming face-to-face with the father of their future child? So what if they didn’t pick him out of a catalog?
At least they get to put a face to their benefactor. They get to meet the stranger, whose baby they are paying him to carry for themselves!
And at least he is being honest in his transaction. This is what this man is willing to reduce himself to.
Heaven, help us.
